17th February marks Random Acts of Kindness Day. A day to remind you to spread joy, do something good for someone else and pay it forward.
Supporting one another and doing things for other people has been proven to improve your own mental health and wellbeing. Be selfless and compliment someone's outfit, tell people when they've done a good job, hold open the door for someone in a hurry, offer to make someone a brew, help out at your local charity, or simply show someone a warming smile. You don't always have to spend money to spread joy and be kind.
Other Random Acts of Kindness you can do on the daily that doesn't cost you a penny:
Listen to someone in need, sometimes people just need someone to have a good chat to
Check in with someone you know is having a hard time
Donate unwanted items to your local charity shop
Volunteer your time and give back to the community
Lend someone a book to read
Give blood at your local NHS donor centre
Say hi to a passing neighbor
Go litter picking in your local park
Support a local charity by liking, commenting and sharing their posts on social media
There are a lot of things you can do to input kindness into your day and to brighten up someone else's. Remember to choose kindness.
