Exciting news - £250,000 for CARE's Community Hub Project!

Updated: Nov 10, 2023

As a small local charity in North East Lincolnshire, we are thrilled to announce that we have received an incredible quarter of a million pounds from the Community Ownership Fund (The Government's leveling up dept)! This funding will contribute to the renovation costs to get the old RBS building back open again and in the form of a vibrant community hub. Welcoming people from all walks of life to connect with others, get support, be creative and learn new skills! Community Hub Project

86-88 Victoria Street has been abandoned for 5 years now, and the plumbing and electrics in the banking hall were condemned last week. Being awarded the £250,000, is a huge relief, and we look forward to restoring this iconic building back to public use! Breathing new life into Riverhead Square, creating a warm, welcoming and supportive space for community engagement, creativity, diversity and new opportunities!

"It is a significant historic building with architectural and cultural value. It would be ideal if the building could be repurposed for a use that benefits the local community." - Community Consultation

None of this would have been possible without the amazing support and engagement from the participants in our community. The consultation work which went ahead earlier this year allowed us to highlight the voices of our town and make a significant impact! We are incredibly grateful for all the contributions and support in making this happen, without you we may never have been awarded the incredible funding! Thank you so much.

"It is in a prime position, and as an empty building, it is yet another eye sore in the town centre. Bringing this building back to life for the community would bring footfall, life, and fun back to us and make that whole part of the town centre a nicer place to spend time - and money!" - Community Consultation

We hope you join us on this journey in transforming the vacant building into a sparkling community hub for all! We hope it will become a place for knowledge, support and empowerment. Focused on the well-being of the people in this town, and catering to the diverse interests and needs of our community.

We understand the importance of building upon the strong foundation of CARE's existing services. Alongside the new programmes and initiatives, we will be enhancing our current offerings to better serve the community. You can expect an expanded range of support resources, improved access to valuable assistance, and additional opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Stay tuned for further updates as we figure out and finalise the finer details and prepare to open the doors to this incredible space in Spring/Summer 2024. Together, we will build a stronger community.
